How much does advertising on Facebook and Instagram cost in 2026?

We hear this question in almost every consultation. The short answer is: as much as you set. Meta doesn't have a price list, and the minimum daily budget is just a few zlotys. However, the more important question is: how much do you need to spend for the campaign to sell profitably. Below, we break this down into components.

How Meta charges for ads

Ads on Facebook and Instagram operate on an auction model. Each time a user is eligible to see an ad, the system selects a winner based on three elements: your bid, the estimated action rate, and ad quality. That's why two companies with the same budget can pay completely different amounts for the same result.

Most often, you pay for impressions (CPM, which is the cost per thousand impressions). Even when the campaign's objective is sales, Meta charges for impressions, and the algorithm itself seeks out the people most likely to buy.

What determines the cost of advertising

  • Seasonality. In November and December, competition in auctions rises, so CPM can even double.

  • Target audience. Narrow and highly sought-after groups, such as business owners, cost more than a broad consumer audience.

  • Creative quality. An ad that catches attention gets better placements in the auction for less money.

  • Conversion data. An account with a properly implemented pixel and Conversions API finds buyers faster.

  • Industry and margin. The more companies competing for the same customer, the more expensive it gets.

What starting budget should you choose?

The Meta algorithm needs data. The rule we use at AdVibes: the testing budget should allow you to collect several dozen conversions within a week or two on a single ad set. If your average customer acquisition cost is 50 PLN and you want to gather 50 purchases, you need about 2,500 PLN for the test.

Too small of a budget doesn't mean savings. A campaign that fails to exit the learning phase usually sells at a higher cost than one that received sufficient funding.

How to calculate if advertising is profitable

Instead of asking about the ad cost, calculate how much you can afford to pay for a customer. Three figures are enough:

  • average order value,

  • order margin,

  • how many times the customer purchases again.

If you earn 80 PLN on an order and the customer buys an average of twice, you can spend up to 100 PLN to acquire them and still turn a profit. You can read more about metrics in the article on what ROAS is and how to calculate it.

Where companies most often waste their budget

  • Lack of Conversions API, causing the algorithm to learn on incomplete data.

  • Only one or two creatives for the entire campaign, which quickly burn out.

  • Too many small ad sets that fragment the budget and data.

  • Evaluating the campaign after two days, before the learning phase is complete.

Summary

The cost of advertising on Facebook mainly depends on the quality of creatives, data, and account structure, not just the budget amount itself.
